The act of doing something you know you’ll regret immediately after.
(“I always knew it was a terrible idea to vote ‘leave’, I guess I was just behaving British.”)
* Urban Dictionary *
Election Day in the UK is a Thursday from 7 am to 10 pm. This tradition originated from several reasons :
- Friday pay-packets would lead to more drunken voters on Fridays and weekends;
- election far after a Sunday would reduce the influence of Sunday sermons;
- many towns held markets on Thursdays, so the local population would be travelling to town that day
- people haven’t yet left for the weekend
