Change- Chance – Chaos –

Our lives are a constant demonstration of this principle: a very small change in initial conditions can create a significantly different outcome.

Chaos Theory is a branch of mathematics dealing with nonlinear things that are impossible to predict or control, These phenomena  are highly sensitive to  initial conditions:  small differences in the initial conditions lead to drastic changes in the results, rendering long-term prediction   impossible.

This is often referred to as the Butterfly Effect  and is exemplified  by the fact that a hurricane  can derive from minor perturbations such as the flapping of the wings of a very distant butterfly  several weeks earlier. Initially, the term was employed with weather prediction but later it became a metaphor used in and out of science.
