Here lies One whose Name was writ in Water

Born in 1795, John Keats is one of the greatest English poets and a key figure in the Romantic movement.

He died in Rome on 23 February 1821 and was buried in the Protestant Cemetery.

As he had requested, his tombstone bears the words, “Here lies One whose Name was writ in Water.”.

If we read carefully, we notice a discrepancy of one day between the official date of death and that on the gravestone
