Ernest Miller Hemingway (July 21, 1899 – July 2, 1961) was an American novelist, short story writer, and journalist. He won the Nobel prize for literature in 1954.

In a letter (9 April 1945), he wrote:

 

“All my life I’ve looked at words as though I were seeing them for the first time.”
