When I was in Library School I did a paper on the publishing history of Pride and Prejudice. That was quite an undertaking in the pre-computer days. An electric typewriter and copying Reader’s Guide to Periodical LIterature by year on a copier rather than by hand was as high-tech as we could get back in the olden days.

Il fratello Henry trattava con gli editori la pubblicazione delle opere di Jane, perchรฉ a lei non era consentito farlo personalmente. Bisogna leggere i suoi libri inquadrandoli anche nell’epoca storica in cui visse. Io la trovo deliziosa e il suo amore per la natura รจ contagioso

Vivo nel cottage vicino Adlestrop che Jane Austen avrebbe visto essere stata costruita durante una delle sue visite alla tenuta di Leigh nel 1805. Una donna molto speciale nella storia della letteratura inglese. Ha capito la natura dell’uomo.
