“If life had a second edition, how I would correct the proofs.” (*)
This remark was made by John Clare (1793–1864) in a letter to a friend.
He was the English poet who had great financial difficulties and had to work as a farm labourer to support his family. He was placed in an asylum owing to his mental problems and delusions.
(*) “Se la vita avesse una seconda edizione, come vorrei poterne correggere le bozze.”
Look at that beautiful dandelion (?)

as an editor I was, a text corrects itself at least three times, in addition to reading the author himself. in life, I think that correction depends on the consciousness of each and the number of corrections is immense (for me, at least.)

English as a foreign language is not simple at a certain level, for my last post in total 30 revisions required. Uff!

I wonder what kind of errors Clare would have liked to edit in his life. His occupation, relationships, financial decisions … interesting quote.
