13 August: International Left-Handers Day

🖎 “If the left half of the brain controls the right half of the body then only left-handed people are in the right mind.” (W.C. Fields)

🖎 “Life without left-handed people wouldn’t be right.” (C.R. Manske)

🖎 “Everyone is born right-handed. Only the greatest overcome it.” (Anonymous)

August 13 is the International Left-Handers Day. It was created in 1976 as a way to celebrate left-handers, but also to raise awareness of the inconveniences they have to face in a predominantly right-handed world.
In the past left-handedness was viewed with suspicion, and in the Middle Ages, left-handed writers were thought to be possessed by the Devil. The word sinister comes from “sinistra”, the Latin and Italian word for left. The English word left itself comes from the Old English lyft = weak (the left-hand side is regarded as the weaker side of the body).

Among the most famous left-handed people, we can mention:
Aristotle, Alexander the Great, Julius Caesar, Charlemagne, Queen Victoria , Napoleon Bonaparte, Leonardo Da Vinci, Michelangelo , Raphael, Albrecht Dürer, M.C. Escher , Albert Einstein, Marie Curie, Albert Schweitzer, Benjamin Franklin, Winston Churchill, Henry Ford, Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton…

  1. Quando sei andata sulla politica forse dovevi virare verso il centro! Noi marchigiani siamo molto legati a Mancini se ct italico altrimenti ci arrabbiamo (tanto per stare nello spettacolo a te caro!)

  3. Well, Luisa, it appears I am not doing well here. I am right handed. Mind you, typing now I use both hands,
Playing music – both hands, most tasks requires both. My leading one is the right though. 😊.

      1. Well it’s kind of hard to explain I lost my family when I got married I had two young brothers and it wasn’t a good childhood it wasn’t very good at all my mother went away to be a Roman Catholic nun she came from very strict polish mom and Austrian father they came from their own countries and they settled here in America and very very strict Catholic upbringing and they were proud that she was going to be a nun but my father came from different lifestyle his parents came from Scotland and Ireland and his mother was a beauty queen but he had little education and he was forced to get out and go to work as a very young child my mom and dad came from very different background my mother was very empathetic very compassionate very sweet girl and my father was hard as nails and he was very psychopathic and he wanted an abortion and my mother wouldn’t do it and he left her and she chopped her wrists and almost died so it was very tough and the abuse that I had very tough and that left me open to anybody that would love me or anyone that would be kind and that was Geno

      2. What a terrible childhood! Here’s why you fell in love with Geno, so older than you. Perhaps you were looking for a mature person, a father that you had not had. And you were lucky to meet him

LUSISA ,I KNEW GOD HAD HIS HAND ON ME , I KNEW THE BEATINGS WOULD NOT MAKE ME BITTER OR HATEFUL
GOD HAS DONE INCREDIBLE miracles for me very very interesting and exciting miracles for me I felt very special that God chose to save my life several times I’ve seen good and evil surround me in front of me and I watched evil stand up to good and good didn’t back away someday maybe I could share with you and some of your followers I’ve spoken to many priests I’ve been in close contact with brown robe Franciscan fathers I worked for them later on I’ve had many heart-to-heart conversations with very well known Father Peter Withie , he was the CEO he was the head manager of the st. Anthony messenger out of Cincinnati Ohio where my husband and I worked for 30 years Father Peter and I had many heart-to-heart discussions when he came to New York to visit us . FATHER , Bert Heise and I had many talks about my miracles father Bonaventure from St Anthony’s of Padua church here and I’ve come to learn why these things happened why God saved my life what was the purpose it would have been easier to fold up and just die . I wasn’t even allowed to go to my own grammar school graduation pick up a diploma my white dress was burned it was hell but I actually did love GENE he was very kind and gentle in those days , wa s a very very intelligent he told me if you were going to be my wife shar then you have to get your high school diploma your GED and then you have to take courses uncredited courses from college you can sit in the back and being AFRAID of everying, no CONFIDENCE took abnormal psychology. these courses to learn about my family and why they did the things they did we couldn’t even hold an animal in the house it wouldn’t last very long my puppy my German Shepherd puppy was trying to save my life my father was beating my mother I was a little tiny kid five and I got the way to protect her and so the blow came onto me and my German Shepherd puppy came to save me and was beaten to death in front of me I can’t believe I don’t hate the world around me and that left me open to meet someone like Gene ,he became my protector I eloped I left on my 18th birthday at midnight and I jumped in his Volkswagen with everything I owned in a brown paper bag and it wasn’t easy but we all have our stories you have yours I’m sure

      4. Your childhood was really terrible. Luckily you met Gene who gave you a hand.
I am pleased to learn that your talks with various priests have also been helpful to you.
Sending you a warm hug 🤗💕

      5. 🌄🎨👫💔💖🙏 my dear I learned I had to keep up with Gene he was a nearly genius in IQ a lot was self-taught by him he was the baby of 8 his twin died at childbirth he was 14 lb and his mother was less than 5 foot she was by then in her forties he was born b with the cord around his neck and the doctor dropped him broken shoulder no one said a word put him to his little bed and488 years he had a broken shoulder he wouldn’t she wouldn’t have it done and he wouldn’t have it done later but he was in pain a lot he had arthritis of his whole body when he was probably about 7 months old and the Italian ladies in the town they lived in taught his mother how to massage the baby his legs his arms back his neck and Jean had a boxer brother he was middleweight champion boxer Lorenzo marinucci in Brooklyn and at the time and his brother was 20 years older than him and he would come down from New York and they would put the baby in in olive oil rub him all over in olive oil and then they would put him in cotton cotton like tall’s and this is 1927 that’s quite a while ago and then they would put him in hot bricks that would make the bricks very very hot and they put him kind of like in that and they would repeat this every single day is Mother was tired she was 40 now they lost everything in a fire the day before he was born and there were other children there were seven other children but he was the youngest and the women surrounding them they all came from Italy and they taught the mother how to do this and they would take shifts hurt helping her maintain their life they went into years later they went into the tavern business the restaurant business and this area had a nice amount of restaurants and bars and saloons and all of that that belong to the family and but my husband broke away from it he was very gifted the mother encouraged at all of his life he was extremely close to her mama this mama that Mama and he grew into a his arm was almost useless because of the shelter in the arthritis but they massaged that they wouldn’t let it go in his arm became you know later on very nice and then he had the attack of the appendix and he almost lost his life he was little and then of course the tonsils but they left the muscles in his throat it was a butcher that. And it made him more empathetic more compassionate and the two of us together he was amazing it was a very well-dressed man French cuff cufflinks silk ties and he was a licensed Barber a please

      7. I can see that his childhood was not very happy either, in this case from the point of view of health.
Your past is full of particular events: have you ever thought of writing them in an articulated way? Maybe on your blog

BUT IN MY THOUGHTS I SAID TO GOD, WELL MAYBE SOMEONE COULD LEARN FROM THIS , MAYBE THAT FRIGHTENED FEMALE OR MALE THAT HAD A LIFE SIMILAR COULD SEE ( I SURVIVED IT WITHOUT BECOMING A NARCISSIST OR ALCOHOLIC OR CHILD MOLESTER OR KILLER THEN THEY CAN ALSO ). 🚩🔥💣🚽 😇😺👩‍🎓💃
