Today would have been the 101th birthday of Ray Bradbury, one of the greatest sci-fi writers, who also knew something about writing.
Here’s what he said about writer’s block in “Telling the Truth,” the keynote address of The Sixth Annual Writer’s Symposium by the Sea, in 2001:
What if you have a blockage and you don’t know what to do about it?” Well, it’s obvious you’re doing the wrong thing, don’t you? … You’re being warned, aren’t you? Your subconscious is saying “I don’t like you anymore. You’re writing about things I don’t give a damn for.” … And if you’ve got a writer’s block, you can cure it this evening by stopping whatever you’re writing and doing something else. You picked the wrong subject.
Hai scelto l’argomento sbagliato.
Wow, that’s very useful. Thanks, Luisa.

Ray makes it sound do simple. 😉 If you have writer’s block we don’t know it. Fun post.

I am not a writer, I write some things because I like to do it. But if I get writer’s block and can’t go on anymore, I stop writing what I’m writing, and put it in my unfinished folder. 😉

Very sensible, Luisa. I just look for a different thing to write about. One of the benefits of not having a niche blog. But I think you ARE a writer. 😉

I reckon that if you don’t enjoy writing something, then people won’t enjoy reading it. Mind you, that doesn’t mean to say that if you did enjoy writing it that will enjoy reading it anyway 🙂

‘they’ will enjoy reading it

That ‘s true, but if the writer enjoyed writing, at least for someone it will have been pleasant and funny

Buona serata Luisa e buona settimana💚🌺

Buona serata cara 😘

Great writer and thinker. I read his Fahrenheit 451, and saw the film, made by François Truffaut. 🤗👍🙏❤

Don’t stop writing about it, because you cared in the first place. Only stop if your subconscious doesn’t cry out at you telling you to continue. That’s a sign that you don’t care enough to write about whatever it is you’re writing about 🙂
