Jacques Barzun ( born on 30 November 1907) was a French-American historian, teacher and a philosopher of education
Three quotes on teaching:
Teaching is not a lost art, but the regard for it is a lost tradition.
The truth is, when all is said and done, one does not teach a subject, one teaches a student how to learn it.
In teaching you cannot see the fruit of a day’s work. It is invisible and remains so, maybe for twenty years.
Jacques Barzun (nato il 30 novembre 1907) fu uno storico, insegnante e filosofo dell’educazione franco-americano
Ecco tre aforismi sull’insegnamento:

I probably should have written Professor rather than Teacher. I know you already knew that I meant no disrespect. Have a great day too.

Maybe professors in America are the ones who teach at the university. I taught at a secondary school

– attendere 3 anni
– fare l’esame
– passarlo
– entrare in graduatoria

Jacques Barzun was right when he said that ‘the teaching is not a lost art but regard for this is a lost tradition’ . One of the oldest professon of the world is really becoming an obsolete art . That’s why lost regard for this tradition . In Hindi we say ‘ BECHARA SIKSHAK ‘ means poor teacher . If we remember the academy of the great Greek Philosopher Plato , on the entrance of which , was written that people without the knowledge of mathematics should not dare to enter into the academy . Can a teacher of today vociferously assert telling words of Prohibition to his or students ? Answer to this question is simply no . Thanks !

You’re right. Also Italy it has become difficult to teach. Once teachers were more respected, Now they also have to control themselves in their judgments because negative words could be misunderstood as offending by their students’ parents
