Robert Frost, one of the most celebrated figures in American poetry, was born in San Francisco on 26 March 1874. He died in Boston in 1963
Frequently honoured during his lifetime, he is the only poet who received four Pulitzer Prizes for Poetry.
“Poetry is when an emotion has found its thought and the thought has found words.”
“To be a poet is a condition, not a profession.”
“A poem begins in delight and ends in wisdom.”
“Poetry begins in trivial metaphors, pretty metaphors, “grace” metaphors, and goes on to the profoundest thinking that we have. Poetry provides the one permissible way of saying one thing and meaning another. People say, “Why don’t you say what you mean?” We never do that, do we, being all of us too much poets. We like to talk in parables and in hints and in indirections — whether from diffidence or some other instinct.” ( from a speech delivered in 1931)
Robert Frost had what it took to be a poet, for sure. Hope you have a good weekend Luisa. Allan

Buo pomeriggio, Cara Luisa!🥀🥀🥀

He was a man who could make words meaningful. Unfortunately, I knew a man who had the same name who could do anything but.

Poetry , I oersonally feel , is all about telling the truth by mixing in it feelings , emotions and all the virtues of life . The thing which can’t plainly be told by the prose , can be written in Poetry . Thus , Poetry is the way of expressing the things uniquely . In ancient period when people used to reveal the mystery of the world through Poetry only , as it could not be told in proses as such . Thanks reading your blog .

Hi Luisa. Robert Frost lived in England between 1912 -1915 and was a member of the Dymoke poets, named after the town of Dymoke in Worcestershire. He inspired Edward Thomas to take up poetry. Thomas’s express train made its memorable unwanton stop outside “Adlestrop” in 1914 while he was travelling to meet Frost. Adlestrop, sometimes called a war poem as Thomas wrote it at Arras in 1917, described a lost idyllic England before the Great War, which would never return
