🎶 “Wild Night” (Van Morrison)🎶

As you brush your shoes, stand before the mirror
And you comb your hair, grab your coat and hat
And you walk the streets trying to remember
All the wild night breezes in your memory ever

And everything looks so complete
When you’re walking out on the streets
And the wind, it catches your feet
Sets you flying, crying

Ooh wee, a wild night, is calling, alright
Ooh wee, wild night, is calling

All the girls walk by, dressed up for each other
And the boys, do the boogie woogie
On the corner of the street
And the people passing by, stare in wild wonder
And inside the jukebox roars just like thunder

And everything looks so complete
When you’re walking out on the streets
And the wind, it catches your feet
Sets you flying, crying

Ooh ooh ooh wee, wild night, is calling, alright
Ooh ooh ooh wee, wild night, is calling, alright

Wild night, is calling
The wild night is calling
C’mon out and dance, c’mon out and make romance
C’mon out and dance, c’mon out make romance

Wild night, is calling
The wild night is calling
C’mon out and dance, c’mon out and make romance
C’mon out and dance, c’mon out make romance

“Wild Night” is a song written by Irish singer-songwriter Van Morrison, released as a single in 1971, and the opening track on his fifth studio album Tupelo Honey (this title derives from an expensive, mild-tasting honey produced in the south-eastern United States from the tupelo gum tree)
Morrison has continued to perform this song in concerts throughout his career and it has been recorded by many artists and bands.

“Wild Night” describes the feeling of excitement and joy offered by a night in town: getting dressed up, watching the girls, feeling the wind, dancing and getting romantic.
It’s one of his few songs with mass appeal, even though Morrison generally avoided couplets like “Come on out and dance, come on out, make romance” in favour of deeper lines.
George Ivan Morrison (singer-songwriter, instrumentalist and record producer) was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, on 31 August 1945: his mother was a singer, while his father collected classic American jazz and blues recordings.

He began his professional career when he was a teenager, in the late 1950s, playing a variety of instruments including guitar, harmonica, keyboards and saxophone for various Irish bands, covering the popular hits of that time. Later, from 1964 to 1966, he became the lead singer of “Them” in Belfast (Northern Ireland), one of many white rhythm and blues bands of the era.

Morrison is considered one of the most influential vocalists in the history of rock and roll, and has received numerous music awards during his career.

In 2016, at Buckingham Palace, he was knighted for services to the music industry and to tourism in Northern Ireland. He described becoming a Sir as “amazing” and “exhilarating” and, on that occasion, he told the Prince of Wales that retirement wasn’t in his repertoire.

He is known by the nickname “Van the Man”.

Mentre ti pulisci le scarpe, stai davanti allo specchio
e ti pettini, prendi cappotto e cappello

all’angolo della strada
e la gente che passa fissa con meraviglia selvaggia
e all’interno il jukebox ruggisce proprio come il tuono

E ogni cosa sembra così definita
quando cammini per le strade
e il vento, ti cattura piedi
e ti fa volare, piangendo

Ooh wee, la notte selvaggia sta chiamando,
Ooh wee, la notte selvaggia sta chiamando

La notte selvaggia, sta chiamando
La notte selvaggia sta chiamando
Vieni fuori e balla, vieni fuori a fare il romantico
Vieni fuori e balla, vieni fuori a fare il romantico

La notte selvaggia, sta chiamando
La notte selvaggia sta chiamando
Vieni fuori e balla, vieni fuori a fare il romantico
Vieni fuori e balla, vieni fuori a fare il romantico
