25 Aprile: “Bella Ciao”

La canzone “Bella Ciao” era originariamente una canzone di lavoro per le donne nelle risaie, che poi venne modificata e diventò una popolare canzone di guerra durante la Seconda Guerra Mondiale, cantata dai combattenti italiani della Resistenza, partigiani che lottarono contro la dittatura fascista di Mussolini e l’occupazione da parte dei soldati nazisti di Hitler (l’esercito “invasore”)
È la canzone del 25 aprile, giorno in cui l’Italia celebra la “Festa della Liberazione”, che segna la fine della Guerra Civile Italiana e dell’occupazione nazista nel 1945 e commemora la Resistenza Italiana, coloro che combatterono contro i nazisti e le truppe fasciste di Mussolini durante la Seconda Guerra Mondiale.

The song “Bella Ciao” (Italian pronunciation: [ˈbɛlla ˈtʃaːo]) was originally a work song for women in the paddy fields of rice, especially in Italy’s Po Valley. It was later modified and became a popular war song during the Second World War, sung by Italian fighters of the Resistenza, partisans who fought against the invading forces of Nazi Germany and the fascist collaborationists of the Italian Social Republic between 1943 and 1945 during the Italian resistance and the liberation of Italy.
It is the song of April 25th, the day in which Italy celebrates the “Liberation Day”, which marks the end of the Italian Civil War and the Nazi occupation in 1945 and commemorates the Italian Resistance, those people who fought against the Nazis and Mussolini’s fascist troops during World War II.

  10. The last time I heard “Bella Ciao” song was on La Casa de Papel aka Money Heist. I also saw a video where in Germany, during the COVID, a neighbourhood began singing this song in unison as their neighbours played live instruments. It’s amazing to see how the Italian folk tune has become an anthem. Thanks for sharing, and have a good day 🙂 Aiva xx

    Avevo in passato scritto qualcosa ricordando i seguenti accorati versi, con riferimento ad altro argomento: mi astengo da riportarla per non turbare la solennità del patriottico post dì Vitty.

      1. It is a wodnerful song. I first heard it on Money Heist and just loved it instantly. There’s also an amazing very diffferent version pacewise sung by two Iranian girls I am sure I first heard through Aladin Fazel.

  19. This song is very special to me. I studied for two years (I was 13 and 24 years old) at the Lima-Peru Seminary and I was in the Choir. Precisely for this Anniversary, we sang the song at the Lima Theater for the authorities and the Italian colony. The emotion of the moment and the update went so well, that they entertained us in style at the Italian Embassy. That’s why to this day, every time I listen to it, nostalgia overcomes me.   32. Thank you Luisa for the English version of this very famous song. Finally I realized what is that song about. Love and freedom are the most important things to be happy. However, there are still a lot of imperfections in the World, a lot of wars and fighting. Nothing is teaching the humanity!
