Risveglio/Awakening

Sogni sfilacciati
galleggiano sul guanciale.

Brandelli di realtà,
impigliati tra le ciglia.

Un ricordo lontano
guida la mia mano sulle lenzuola.

Ma nulla trova,
tranne il vuoto

Frayed dreams
Drift upon the pillow

Shards of reality
Entangle within the eyelashes

A distant memory
Guides my hand
Across the sheets

But finds nothing,
Only the void

  1. Lovely, Luisa… a bit sad though, a longing for someone it sounds like. In my life, I try not to read sad things, why make myself sadder. As we grow older, so many changes that every morning I find we need to choose which road we take… the one to the left, sad and melancholy or the road to the right, happy, meeting new people and focused on seeing the beautiful flowers and hearing the birds chirping. It takes real effort sometimes to keep our mind happy. Who we choose to be around improves our mental state. This will make you smile. The other day, I had to go to the dentist. I LOVE my dentist, but he is retiring. Good news, his son is taking over, nice like the father. I went in for appt, having had a rough day at work. This young man has such a cheery, happy, exuberant attitude about life. That it was infectious. There are not a lot of people in life, who were born with a halo of sun around them. They are special people full of smiles and positivity. So nice!! Have a beautiful day!! The sun is shining. 💕🌺

    1. You are absolutely right, dear Monica. We should make an effort to keep our mind happy.
Unfortunately, with age, regrets, memories, nostalgias increase and sometimes they attack me suddenly, when I am most alone and defenseless, like during the night💕🌺

      1. I agree, I know, I go through this too… BUT I FIGHT those feelings with everything I have. My mother taught me LONG ago, when I was young, and would feel sad feelings about something that to focus on regrets, etc that we have NO CONTROL over is useless, it also makes our body sick. So, I learned that I’m in charge of my mind… do I want to continue to be sad/unhappy or do I choose to focus on happiness. Music, a funny show, a good book, positive affirmations, going outside, fresh air, they ALL can change our minds. I once read a woman who conquered sad feelings by saying to herself… NO, NOT TODAY, I’m not going down that bad road. JUST FOR TODAY, I’m going to be happy. She would have to repeat this many times, UNTIL the sad thoughts would leave. It was her form of meditation. I found it works for me to. NOT TODAY… I will repeat that over and over and FOCUS on happy thoughts. Sending you a HUGE hug!! Sadness, loneliness, depression, it’s REAL… it takes such EFFORT to CONQUER it and live a HAPPY life. BUT I feel our children want to see us as lively people, not sad ones, right. And we would not like to see them sad, so it goes both ways. I ask myself… How would I help my children? THEN I must help myself in the same way. I can’t attach a photo, but last night I went walking and saw such beautiful PINK tulips. It was the evening, they were going to sleep.. I smiled, this put me in a happy mood. Little things make us happy if we are open to them. 💕🙏🌺

      2. Thank you very much for your precious reflections and advice, dearest Monica.
I will try to put them into practice, when I am assailed by sadness. Starting from now, I will repeat to myself “Today I’m not going down that bad road. Today I’m going to be happy”

      3. It WORKS… it’s a MANTRA… you will have to repeat it at first many times, saying it FIRMLY…use your Italian hands. LOL, you know we talk with our hands. Oh, since your English is perfect. Here are a few people I often go to for upbeat messages, they are on Youtube: Louise Hay (motivational speaker, many positive affirmations) Sonia Choquette… and this one, his audio messages, my daughter and I like when we need them is Joel Osteen. I go walking and listen to him. He’s very up beat. You know how it is, these might not be for you, but you might like one, that is good. 💕 Sharing is caring, right. Oh, I also listen to Oprah’s Soul Sunday on Spotify when I am walking when I need up lifting messages.

  2. MI STA MANGIANDO VIVO

Mi sta mangiando vivo, e lo sai:

al mare non mi parli e ti sdrai

    lontan dall’ombrellone mio assai,

il che non era accaduto mai.

Chi ti starà mangiando tu ti chiedi.

Ma come fai a non capirlo? Siedi

  3. Such a profound poem, my dear Luisa, clearly written by someone capable of deep feeling and beautifully expressing their feelings through the medium of poems.

We are all linked by a sentimental relationship that connects us with the ties of humanity. We are similar because we go through the same joys and sorrows, through the same illusions and disappointments. The supreme law of living makes us equals, and to a greater or lesser degree, we all feel euphoria and depression, sadness and happiness, hope and disappointments.

Thanks for sharing, and have a wonderful day 🙂 Love from Ireland 🙂 Aiva xx
